Today Tania, from McAuley Community Services for Women, came to speak to the year 5/6 students and to collect the donations purchased by the funds raised by the students at the McOz Make a Difference Day!
Tania spoke to the students about the extremely important work that McAuley Services provide to women and children that have had to deal with family violence.
In particular, Tania spoke to the students about how important it is that we all treat each other with respect and that we understand that stereotypes about how boys and girls should act or what they should do, can be very damaging.
The video below demonstrating very clearly how we can unconsciously reinforce these negative stereotypes.
The students were very engaged during the presentation, asking questions and responding with great maturity thoughtfulness. Tania thanked all the students for the fantastic work they did in working so hard to raise funds and purchase much needed supplies that will make a real difference to women and children in great need.
